Why is Kamshet one of the Best places to fly ?
Because India is a country with naturally lofty hills, as well as two huge mountain ranges—the Western Ghats and Himalayas—the land is perfect for paragliding. For those living or visiting the western reaches of India, Kamshet and nearby destinations are the ideal spots of paragliding. Kamshet is approximately 102 km from Mumbai, 48 km from Pune, and 18 km from Lonavala.
Kamshet is found amongst the Sahyadri Mountains, meaning that most take-off sites require a little hiking. The tropical savanna climate means that the area is about 30 degrees Celsius throughout the year, but April is the hottest month. In January, Kamshet can be cold, with the coldest days being just above 10 degrees Celsius.
Ideal Season for Paragliding in Kamshet
Because June to September is monsoon season in India, the recommended time for paragliding in Lonavala and Kamshet is October to May. During winter, which is between October and February, the thermic conditions are excellent for sustained gliding; and in March through May, the hotter days promote fast acceleration and soaring, especially if you get a strong wind—some blowing more than 20 km per hour! That is why, if you’re not a veteran, you’re going to want to fly with a professional instructor who has ground handling and wind flying skills.

What is a Tandem Paragliding Flight?
Tandem paragliding flights involve a passenger being securely strapped into a comfortable flying harness positioned in front of the pilot and connected to the pilot and the glider. The tandem glider is specially designed to carry two people and is nearly twice the size of a regular solo paraglider.
What is paragliding?
Paragliding is a form of unpowered flight in which rising air is needed to keep the glider aloft. This rising air can come from two sources: 1. when the sun heats features on the ground, columns of rising air known as thermals are generated 2. when wind encounters a ridge in the landscape, the air is forced upwards, providing ridge lift. In mountainous environments, flying is mostly based around thermals, which can be used to stay aloft before heading for a landing field below the launch site. In hill environments, ridge lift is used for ridge soaring, and landing can be done either back at the launch site, or at a landing field at the bottom of the ridge. In either case, more experienced pilots can use thermals to go ‘cross country’.
What is a paraglider?
A paraglider is a free-flying, foot-launched aircraft. The pilot sits in a harness suspended below a fabric wing, whose shape is formed by the pressure of air entering vents in the front. Paragliders are light and fold up fairly small, making them compact and portable.
